Thank you for your interest in taking the American Red Cross Babysitter’s Training class. This class will be held at Naigara Whatfield High School, 2292 Saunders Settlement Rd, Sanborn, NY 14132

COURSE OBJECTIVES

This in-person course prepares youth ages 10–16 to safely and confidently care for children and infants. It includes hands-on activities, videos, and discussions to build essential real-life babysitting skills. Participants learn how to provide basic care, prevent injuries, choose age-appropriate activities, respond to emergencies, and act responsibly while supervising younger children.

The audience for this class includes youth ages 10–16 who want to babysit for siblings, relatives, neighbors, or family friends, and anyone who wants to build confidence caring for infants and children.

Topics covered include:

• How to care for infants and children (feeding, diapering, picking up and holding)

• Babysitting safety and injury prevention

• What to do in an emergency and how to stay safe

• Choosing activities that are age appropriate

• Recognizing, understanding, and handling certain behaviors

• Starting your babysitting business

Participants receive a Babysitter’s Training certificate upon completion.
